Hey, I’m Brennan! I’m the founder and writer for OKMen Network. I want to begin by taking you back a couple years. In 2022, I was invited to a men’s intensive retreat called, Men at the Cross. I was a lifelong believer of Jesus, had been cultivating a relationship with Him for 10+ years, and yet that weekend retreat completely changed my walk with Him, and ultimately my life.
I learned that I had been showing up falsely in my walk with Christ, in my marriage, and pretty much every other area of life. This weekend taught me to step into my True Self, the version of myself that God created me to be, not the version that was showing up sinfully, or heavily influenced by the world.
The Lord began changing my heart. While there was spiritual growth in 2023, it became a frustrating year because certain things were no longer fulfilling. For a long time, I was very happy at my job, until suddenly, I was not.
Frustration grew, but so did a sense that I wanted more. I needed something that served The Kingdom.
I began searching online for jobs at churches and Christian radio stations (I have a degree in Broadcasting, but that’s a post for another time!), but nothing panned out. Eventually my wife said, “Whatever it is you’re looking for, I don’t think you’re going to find it on Indeed.”
I knew I wanted to be a part of something that was impactful, like the intensive weekend I experienced in 2022. So, I began to think and pray about what I could do. God directed me to begin writing. I began unlocking an idea for a weekly devotional for Christian men.
As I pursued this devotional, my heart completely left my day job. So, in 2024, I left too. Yes, it was a massive leap of faith. And yes, it was very scary! This last year has been a year of establishing foundations. The devotional I was writing became not only a 52-Week devotional, but also a prayer journal, a call to action, and a source for discussion and community for Christian men and men’s ministries. Each Devotional begins with “OK Men,” and all that follow along are part of the OKMen Network. It’s incredibly exciting to know that God has His hands in this!
That devotional is currently in editing and should be available in Spring 2025! After its release, a corresponding podcast will launch, centered around Christian men talking about real topics that effect real men today. Topics (both in the devotional and podcast) will include: prayer, your circle, busyness, anger, joy, strength, weakness, anxiety, fear, love, lust, control, trials, worship, marriage, discipleship, the fear of the Lord, wisdom, and many others!
OKMen Network is a community of Christian men being real about the issues they face today. There will be scripture, there will be thought provoking questions, and there will be discussion (hopefully, because this is where you come in!).
There will be posts nearly every day. Free subscribers will get bits and pieces of the weekly devotional, Notes posts, motivational scripture, and discussion questions. Content will vary throughout the week. Paid subscribers get access to the full weekly devotional (which includes a Call to Action), everything else listed above, the ability to join the discussion via posts and comments, as well as access to the podcast (when released later in 2025).
God wants His warriors (that’s us, men) to take a stand. This world is growing darker, but His light will shine brighter in us! We need to band together in the name of Jesus, and help each other, so we can be better husbands, fathers, and disciples. Passivity won’t help us in spiritual warfare. In fact, Satan thrives in our laziness. So, let’s be real about the personal battles we’re fighting. Being open brings healing and teaches us we are NOT alone. “A friend loves at all times, and a brother was born for a time of adversity,” Proverbs 17:17.
OK, men. It’s time to live as the True Self. The powerful and righteous version of ourselves that God originally created us to be. Our families need Godly men. Our churches need Godly men. Godly men need Godly men! OK, men, join the network. We need you.
Thanks for reading OKMen’s Substack! This post is public so feel free to share it.
